SACRAMENTO — Members of the CORE Wrestling Club of Lake County took part in the “No Guts, No Glory” tournament Dec. 31 at Natomas High School in Sacramento.

Amari Carr and Gerardo Rodriguez came away with first-place finishes, Richard Occhino took second, Harrison “Trey” Thurman III placed third, and Wyatt Hooten and Ryan Ramirez finished fourth.

“First of all I am impressed that these kids made it there on their holiday vacation and battled it out,” Lower Lake head coach Danny Cuellar said. “The two younger kids, Ryan and Wyatt, had some tough matches but never gave up. I tell them, ‘there’s no losing, just winning and learning, and all I want is for you to give it your all.’ ”

CORE wrestlers took part in the Nor Cal New Years Bash on Saturday in Folsom.
