Isn’t that the quandary we encounter when we are undecided?   And, unfortunately, many a plan, project or dream gets lost in the shuffle of indecision.

It sounds simple on the surface, but making decisions can be difficult.  The more factors there are impacting the results of a specific decision, the more complex (and even daunting) the process can become.

Some folks lean on the easy-way-out approaches: just wing it; trust your gut; let someone else decide; or, abandon the thing requiring a decision.  Well, so much for dissection.

Believe it or not, a goodly number of potential Interior design project clients arrive at the doorstep of a recommended Interior designer with more indecision than resolve!  Some believe they should do something about the Interior in question, but don’t know just what!  Others may be getting pressure to do something – anything about a hopelessly dysfunctional Interior (commercial or residential).   Still others may know exactly what needs to be addressed, but don’t know when, how or if.

Recognizing that there is something that must be done is the first basic decision – and it has already been made!  It’s the next step that is bogged down.

Instead of procrastinating and agonizing over next steps, it can be a smart move to contact a professional Interior design firm and explain your dilemma.  Most reputable firms are quite willing to listen and suggest some next steps, without charging fees.  With some clarification, your very next decision-making process could be much smoother, much clearer.

Decisions involving speculating on the costs to implement your ideas are among the most difficult – and the most likely to be inaccurate.  Without the input of a professional in the field, you could be on a slippery slope.

Sometimes, a potential client contacts an Interior design firm and announces they know exactly what they want. They also want the services of a professional Interior designer, but want it to be done exactly the way they say it is to be done because they have made all the decisions. That declaration begs the question:  Why then would you want the services of a professional, and just what would those services be?

Moving forward, believing a decision to decide is a decision, can be an expensive trap.  That may sound like double-talk, but people do it all the time, only to learn later that the critical details are missing, the dream has no pragmatic transformation plan and that the decision to decide has no legs without the facts.

The range of possibilities concerning decision-making and Interior design is pretty vast.  Most of that territory involves consideration, investigation and confrontation of the actual site and circumstances.  There is the dream – the Vision – as well as the “wanna” factor!  All of that is vitally dependent upon the financial capability of the dreamer to deliver on the costs.

In the final analysis, decisions to decide do not provide a secure base from which to move forward with just about anything!  But, they are tricky enough to catch you off guard into thinking they are real when actually they are only indecision!

There are excellent techniques and procedures that can help you arrive at sound, dependable decisions.  Your professional Interior design expert can help you sort out the elements you may be considering, and help you make good potential Interior design project decisions.
