UKIAH — Angel Garcia’s goal midway through the first half staked the Kelseyville High School varsity boys soccer team to a 1-0 lead, but the Ukiah Wildcats came back to beat the Knights 4-1 in non-league action Saturday in Ukiah.

“It was our only shot of the game,” Kelseyville head coach KC White said of Garcia’s goal. “Ukiah had like 20 shots.”

Ukiah rallied to tie the game in the 28th minute. The Wildcats moved ahead 2-1 10 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick.

“Our guy tackled one of their guys near the edge of the box,” White said. “I thought it was a clean tackle but they (officials) called a foul.”

The Wildcats added another goal a few minutes later for a 3-1 lead. They picked up an insurance goal later in the half to round out the scoring.

Following a physical loss on Thursday at St. Helena, Kelseyville finished the game with only 13 healthy players, according to White.

“They fought through a lot of ailments today after the physicality of our game the other night,” White said.

Standouts for the Knights were Garcia, Aiden Rivas and keeper Frank Cortes.

“Aiden was everywhere on the field,” White said. “Frank stepped up big time.”

Ukiah also won the junior varsity game 8-0.

Kelseyville hosts Roseland University Prep in a North Central League I on Tuesday at 4 p.m. On Thursday the Knights travel to Petaluma to take on St. Vincent at 3:15 p.m.
