OK, so maybe it’s not spring sports season just yet. However, snowman season was in full force Friday morning at ballfields through the county and Redwood Empire. If there was snow and a flat space, chances are someone was hard at work building one. Heavy snowfall dropped all the way to sea level Thursday night into Friday, knocking out power to thousands of county residents while also closing major traffic arteries such as highways 20, 29 and 175. As for the spring sports of baseball and softball, they’ll return as soon as the sun pokes out from behind the clouds. Unfortunately their snowman friends will be long gone by then.
