MIDDLETOWN — Regular-season co-champions Middletown Middle School and Terrace Middle School of Lakeport squared off Wednesday night in Middletown for a winner-take-all boys title game in B-level boys basketball action.
Behind 13 points from Joey Pinola and 10 each from Jett Perry and Johnny Finney, the host Colts beat the Vikings 42-34.
The two teams split their two regular-season meetings.
Nolan Buffalo’s 13 points and eight rebounds led Terrace, Joey Portlock added six points and eight rebounds, and JD Smart had nine points.
“Joey Portlock and Nolan Buffalo kept us in the game but we missed layups,” Terrace coach Jeremy Hopkins said. “Middletown was executing and making its layups, that was the difference. We fought until the last horn, but it just didn’t go our way tonight.”
Added Hopkins, “It’s a tough way to end the season but we went from a one-win season to the championship game (this season). I’m proud of my guys.”
