CLEARLAKE OAKS — Winning pitcher Aly Aguirre carried a no-hitter until the final batter of the game as the Konocti Middle School softball team beat Middletown 15-1 in league action Wednesday afternoon in Clearlake Oaks.

The game was called after four inninngs.

Aguirre finished with a one-hitter while striking out seven.

“She pitched a phenomenal game,” Konocti head coach Luis Perez said.

The Rams (2-1) generated plenty of run support for Aguirre. Heidi Ortega (2 RBIs), Brooklyn Tubbs (RBI) and Irianna Milano had three hits apiece. Catcher Leanna Ortega went 2-for-2, scored twice and threw out a runner at third base.

Although the sun was shining when play began, rain was falling by the fourth inning as the game was approaching the one-hour, 45-minute time limit.

“The umpires decided to call it,” Perez said.

Weather permitting, Konocti travels to Potter Valley on Thursday for a 4 p.m. game.
