WILLITS — Members of the Gladiators Wrestling Club split their talents between two different venues last weekend. While most of the wrestlers attended the second annual Gatekeeper Tournament sponsored by the Willits Grappling Pack in Willits, two of the club’s high school-level wrestlers attended the SCWAY Nor-Cal High School State competition in Clovis.

Willits

Brantley Paminto and Kameron Kolston both won their respective divisions in Willits while the Gladiators as a team placed third overall to claim their first team trophy.

“These kids were hungry to compete this weekend and I was impressed with the intensity they brought on the mat,” Gladiators head coach Peter Stephan said. “A big shoutout to Kameron and Brantley who earned first in their weight class and divisions. Those two have been pushing their limits in practice and their hard work translated to the tournament over the weekend.”

Paminto also finished second in another weight class.

Other seconds went to Maverick Paminto, Joseph Szupello, Thomas Philpot, Brayden Paminto, Kailaya Philpot and Logun Whittle (in two separate divisions). Thirds went to Ayden Santiago, Brayden Paminto, Branson Whittle (in two separate divisions) and Riley Givens. Fourths went to Novalee Janssen, Djoser Williams and Hayden Janssen.

Clovis

Arturo Gudino wrestled in three different weight classes (seven matches overall) at the SCWAY Nor-Cal High School State tournament, placing first, third and fourth. Kayden Menzio competed in two weight classes (10 matches overall), taking fourth and fifth.

Schedule

The Gladiators are back in action this coming Saturday when they participate in the Healdsburg Club Tournament.
