BUCKINGHAM — A gathering of vintage speedboats and classic cars is coming to the shores of Clear Lake on May 20-21.

The Buckingham Test and Tune, hosted by the California Speedboat Association, visits the Buckingham Golf Club and Community Center, located at 2855 Westlake Drive.

The California Speedboat Association has a rich history dating back to ITS incorporation in 1937. According to Commodore Scott Courts, original members included Henry and Edgar Kaiser, founders of Kaiser Hospitals and Kaiser Aluminum, and Stanley Dollar, president of the Dollar Steamship Line.

“We are an organization of people that love vintage and historic boats,” Courts said. ” We love to show and share the history of these boats. We welcome anybody who wishes to attend.”

Vintage hydro racing boats, some from as far away as Oregon and Washington, will be on exhibit at Buckingham Golf and Country Club, located at 2855 Eastlake Drive. Fans can meet drivers and check out the vintage watercraft up close and personal.

Classic cars will be on display May 20 beginning at 9 a.m. Many award-winning vehicles will be on display.

Vintage and historic speedboats will run on the water from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, weather and water conditions permitting.

There will be food available for purchase and photo opportunities galore.

There is no admission fee for either event.
