NAPA — Bodhi Moore’s round of 79 led the way for Middletown as the Mustangs won their sixth straight Coastal Mountain Conference South golf match Thursday with a 344-374 victory over the St. Helena Saints at the par-72 Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa.
“This is a really tough course with tough pin placements today and some challenging greens,” Middletown head coach Todd Williams said. “Bodhi Moore really came through for us today. He played consistent all day and never really had a blowup hole. He played par-bogey golf all day with two birdies as well.”
It was the first time this season Moore has been the medalist in a South match.
Dom Williams finished with 81 and Cooper Johnson had 87 as the undefeated Mustangs improved to 18-0. Blake Costlow rounded out Middletown’s team scoring with a 97.
The next best round after Moore’s and Williams’ was 85 by St. Helena’s Ethan Peterson. Following them were Johnson with 87 and St. Helena’s Micah Meraz-Ha with 90.

“The most difficult course we’ve played this season,” Kelseyville assistant head coach John Berry said. “It’s a high-quality course. It’s a gem. It’s a privilege to play here. It’s a private country club that allows the public to play during certain hours.”
It’s also not cheap for members or the public.
“But they let 24 high school golfers play here for free, which is pretty nice,” Berry said.
Finding the fairway at Chardonnay isn’t a problem, according to Berry.
“It’s a second-shot course,” Berry said. “It’s like a funnel. The closer you get to the green, the options become much fewer.”
The undulating greens are tiered in many instances, making putting a real chore, according to Berry.
Both Moore and Williams had two birdies during their rounds.
“He’s really coming into his own as a golfer and is making strides week to week,” Williams said of Dom Williams’ play.
“Cooper hit some monster drives today and is starting to get dialed in,” Williams said. “He finished with one birdie.”
Technology finished third in team scoring with 406 and was led by Sebastian Maurice’s round of 98. Kelseyville came in fourth with 436. Julian Armas led the Knights with 98 and Ethan Gambill had 106.
Two CMC South matches remain and will decide which five at-large golfers join team champion Middletown at the opening round of the North Coast Section Championships May 8 at Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma. Next Thursday’s match in Windsor and the South finale May 2 at Valley of the Moon in Santa Rosa will determine those five at-large spots.
Conference notes: Just as long as Middletown doesn’t finish last in team scoring next Thursday in Windsor, the Mustangs will clinch the South team championship.
