FORT BRAGG — The Kelseyville High School tennis juggernaut keeps rolling along. The Knights improved to 9-0 on the season with their latest victory, a 5-0 Coastal Mountain Conference decision over the host Fort Bragg Timberwolves.

“I’m running out of adjectives to describe how good this team is,” Kelseyville head coach Andy Dobusch said. “All five matches were straight-set victories. These kids are playing at a different level right now. We’re the strongest team in the North league of the Coastal Mountain Conference, but next week at our (conference) championships, we’ll likely face stiffer competition from the South league powerhouse teams from St. Helena, Tech High, Sonoma Academy, Credo and Tomales. We’re looking good though and should get some high seeds in the tournament.”

During Friday’s action in Fort Bragg, Rylan Lipscomb defeated Damien Robbers 6-0, 6-1 in first singles.

“Rylan is a machine right now,” Dobusch said. “He ate up the heavy topspin shots from his opponent and patiently waited for his moments to strike. He made quick work out of a quality opponent.”

Ryan Taylor started out slowly in second singles but came on strong for a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Holiday Barret.

“It took Ryan a few games to settle in and figure out the windy conditions and he played a very good opponent, but once he got dialed in, it was over,” Dobusch said. “He wears you down.”

Evan Weller dominated in his 6-0, 6-3 victory over Damian Lopez in third singles.

“Evan played a nice, smooth match,” Dobusch said. “He didn’t try to over-hit every shot and played some smart tennis.”

Maddy Madrzyk and Olivia Hommer beat Wilberth Castaneda and Julian Yanez 6-3, 6-2 in first doubles while Maddy Borghesani and Payton Morris posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bryson Fletter and Rebecca Valenzuela in second doubles.

Kelseyville returns to action Tuesday in Willits.
