UPPER LAKE — Grace Hobbs went 2-for-4 with a grand slam to back the pitching of Vanessa Reyes as the Mountain Vista Middle School softball team beat Upper Lake 13-3 on Monday afternoon in Upper Lake.

Although less than 100 percent because of illness, Reyes allowed only three hits and struck out six. Her teammates picked her up with a big day at the plate, led by Hobbs.

Mountan Vista’s other leading hitters were Gemma Lewis, who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Meghan Renfro, who went 1-for-2 with a RBI.

“We have a ways to go, but the girls continue to improve on defense and at the plate,” Mountain Vista head coach Huey Lewis said. “Wherever I need to put them they are doing a great job.”
