BUCKINGHAM — Clear Lake High School’s golf team had its best outing of the season while hosting Fort Bragg, Willits and Mendocino in Coastal Mountain Conference North match Tuesday afternoon at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

CMC North champion Fort Bragg topped the field with 378 with Clear Lake only five shots back at 383. Willits came in third with 392 and Mendocino’s team was incomplete (fewer than four golfers).

Fort Bragg twin brothers Brandon Shellman and Brayton Shellman fired the day’s low rounds. Brandon was the medalist with a 83 while Brayton finished with 86. Clear Lake golfers Sofia Arredondo and Francis Rivera were next with career-best scores of 87 and 93, respectively.

Also for the Cardinals, Oliver Viray fired a career-best 101 in only his second tournament of the season while Brooke Hinchcliff carded a 102. Jace Mendes had 105.

The CMC North teams will play a fun match next Tuesday at Little River that won’t count toward the North team standings. The opening round of the North Coast Section playoffs takes place the following week (May 8) at Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma.
