KELSEYVILLE — Aly Aguirre pitched a complete game, striking out 10, and teammates Irianna Milano and Leanna Ortega hit solo home runs to help lift the Konocti Rams to a 9-2 victory over the Mountain Vista Lancers in middle school softball action Thursday afternoon at Kelseyville.

Konocti (8-1) built a 4-0 lead in its regular-season finale and never looked back. The Rams put the game away with a two-run fifth and three-run sixth. Aguirre struck out the final batter of the game as the Rams avenged a 14-6 loss to the Lancers earlier this season.

“Our outfield made four nice plays,” Konocti head coach Luis Perez said. “Our defense did really good.”

Contributing to Konocti’s win at the plate were Heidi Ortega (2-for-4, RBI), Kierstyn Lambert (1-for-3, RBI) and Aguirre (1-for-4, RBI). Milano and Heidi Ortega both scored twice.

Aguirre allowed three hits and threw only 67 pitches during the six-inning game.

Both teams advance to the Lake County Junior High Athletic League championship tournament beginning next Thursday at Middletown High School. The tournament runs through Saturday, May 6. The top two seeds draw first-round byes and open play Friday, May 5. Perez said he’s hoping the Rams land one of those top two seeds.
