
ANDERSON — The North State Modified Series opens its 10th season Saturday night at Shasta Speedway, which is located at the Shasta County Fairgrounds in Anderson.
The racing program consists of O’Reilly Auto Parts qualifying, the Sunoco Dash for Cash and the 60-lap main event.
The 60-lap feature, which is sponsored by Twyman Plumbing, pays $1,000 to the winner and $200 to each driver who starts the race. Trophies are courtesy of Mark Baldwin, district manager of the O’Reilly stores.
The NSMS drivers are also compete in qualifying runs as well as a six-lap Sunoco Dash for Cash. Darrin Sullivan of Kelseyville was the feature winner of this event one year ago.
Prior to Saturday’s racing, the track will be open for practice for the modifieds Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Pit gates open at 11 a.m. Saturday with hot laps starting at 3 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.
Joining the modifieds on opening night are the Shasta Hornets, Legends Cars and combers.
