ST. HELENA — St. Helena completed a perfect North Central League I softball season by sweeping the Kelseyville Knights in a regular-season-ending doubleheader Thursday in St. Helena.

The Saints (14-0) won 10-0 in a five-inning first game and 13-3 in a five-inning second game. There was some good news for the Knights as Willits will forfeit a makeup game scheduled for Friday, which means Kelseyville will finish with a 7-7 league record and be eligible for the North Coast Section Division 4 playoffs next week.

“We are going to apply for an at-large berth,” Kelseyville head coach Julie Jackson said.

The Willits at Kelseyville game scheduled last Friday was postponed and rescheduled for this Friday, but the Wolverines informed the Knights they wouldn’t have enough players and decided to forfeit, according to Jackson.

With the forfeit win over Willits, the Knights finish tied with Clear Lake for fourth place in the final league standings behind undefeated St. Helena, Fort Bragg (11-3) and Cloverdale (10-4). St. Helena and Cloverdale compete in the Division 5 playoffs while Fort Bragg is a Division 4 team like Kelseyville.

The section will release the playoffs brackets in all divisions this weekend.

Statistics for the St. Helena doubleheader were not available Thursday night.
