
FRESNO — The CORE Wrestling Club had two of its three wrestlers place during the USA Freestyle State Championships last weekend in Fresno. The three-day competition opened Friday and closed Sunday.

Layla Naredo, a first-year wrestler with only three months experience, placed third in the schoolgirl 101-pound bracket.
Harrison “Trey” Thuman claimed the seventh-place medal in the 149-pound schoolboy division, going 3-2.
Amari Carr didn’t make weight in the novice boys 86-pound division and had to wrestle up at 92 pounds where he went 3-2 in a 26-man bracket, just missing a medal.
