LAKEPORT — The 11th annual WON BASS California Open pro-am bass tournament opened Wednesday and runs through Friday with weigh-ins each day beginning at 2 p.m. at Library Park in Lakeport.

The event features a 100-percent payout with a new 2023 Bass Cat Sabre FTD boat paired with a Mercury 150 Pro XS engine, a prize package valued at $42,000, plus $30,000 in cash going to the pro winner based on a a 200-boat field.

Each day of the tournament begins with a boat inspection at 4 p.m., the playing of the national anthem/morning prayer at 6:15 a.m. followed by a single-file boat launch at 6:30 a.m. A field of 148 boats blasted off on day one Wednesday.

Each boat in the tournament holds a pro and an amateur (also called a co-angler). They can weigh in a maximum of five fish and both pro and amateur share the team’s weight on that given day. Pros change amateur partners each day of the tournament.

Big fish are weighed in separately and must be identified as either the pro’s or the amateur’s big fish.
