The Lake County Fishing Club team of Payton Lyndall of Kelseyville and Kaine Navarro jumped 10 places in the standings Thursday following round two of the High School National Championships at La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Lyndall-Navarro team, 32nd out of 241 teams after round one, moved up to 22nd place Thursday by bringing a three-fish limit of 8 pounds, 14 ounces to the weigh scales for a two-day total of 18 pounds even. A second Lake County Fishing Club team, Joey Gentle and Tyler Bryant of Kelseyville, dropped from 26th to 27th during round two. They caught 8 pounds, 7 ounces Thursday for a two-day total of 17 pounds, 13 ounces. The top 10 teams automatically advances to Friday's round three as do the top two teams from every state. All other teams complete in a second-chance round. Carter Pjesky and JD McBroom of the Kaneland Fishing Club of Illinois had the top weight on Thursday, a three-fish limit of 13 pounds, 3 ounces, to take the overall lead with 23 pounds, 1 ounce. The top five teams after round two all had at least 20 pounds, 11 ounces. In the battle for the World Finals title, the Lyndall-Navarro team is in 25th place out of 366 teams while Gentle-Bryant are 31st.
