
LAKEPORT — It was Hillside Powersports & Marine Patriotic Night at the Races on Saturday as the Lakeport Speedway celebrated the Fourth of July holiday weekend with a full racing card and a fireworks show that followed.
Main event winners were Richard Knight in the modified division, Jeremy Doss in the Wicked Sounds & Wicked Automotive Legends division, Mike Neilson in the bombers division, and Doug Rivera in the West Coast mini-modifieds division.
Modifieds
Richard Knight took the checkered flag in the main event ahead of Jeremy Doss, Darren Knight, Ian Elliott, Mike Sullivan, Jeremy Nowlin, Brian Rodello, Neilson and Anthony Esberg.
Doss was the fast qualifier at 12.874 seconds followed by Darrin Knight at 12.891 and Richard Knight at 12.908.
Richard Knight won the trophy dash in front of Sullivan and Darrin Knight.
Legends
Jeremy Doss topped the field in the main event, beating Mike Doss, Dannie Carpenter, Dave Allen, Tyler Manning, Gary Judd, Paul Pruett and Russ Lowe to the finish line.
The fastest qualifiers were Jeremy Doss at 13.487, Mike Doss at 13.658 and Carpenter at 13.994.
Jeremy Doss won the heat race while Mike Doss won the trophy dash.
Bombers
Neilson’s victory in the main event came in front of Trevor Kollenborn, Jim Kollenborn, Raymond Taylor Jr. and Robert Byers. Mikey Collins was disqualified.
Taylor Jr. set the fast time of 14.350 followed by Neilson at 14.552 and Byers at 14.804.
Neilson won the heat race and Trevor Kollenborn captured the trophy dash.
Mini-modifieds
Rivera’s victory in the mini-modified main event came in front of David Aceves and Ron Portlock.
Rivera also set the fast time (13.498) and won the trophy dash while Portlock was first in the heat race.
Schedule
Racing action returns to Lakeport on July 15 with S&S Insulation Night at the Races featuring the modifieds, Legends, bombers, mini-modifieds and a boat race to follow. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. and racing action begins at 7 p.m. The North State Modified Series visits Lakeport on July 22.
Admission prices to the Lakeport Speedway are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens (age 55 and older) and military personnel, and $12 for children ages 4-12. Kids 3 and younger get in free.
