LAKEPORT— An 18-year-old Kelseyville man facing charges of attempted murder and attempted robbery was in custody; recently appearing at the Lake County Superior Court in Lakeport for a master calendar call hearing.
Attorney Brian Allen Ford, counsel for defendant, Jesse Running Gonzalez, filed a motion to continue this matter.
There was no opposition to the requested continuance and the Court found good cause to continue the matter.
The master calendar call hearing and preliminary hearing have been reset for August.
Mr. Ford also requested the Court set this case for a Motion to Compel discovery.
The matter has been set for a Motion to Compel (discovery) Hearing for August 8, 2023.
A Motion to Compel is when a party may move to compel the production of documents or other evidence if the response agrees to comply but compliance is incomplete, the responding party’s indication of inability to comply is incomplete, inadequate or evasive.
In May the defendant retained Brian Allen Ford as his counsel and the Court relieved Sterling Thayer, Jr. as Counsel.
During a hearing in April the matter was set for further proceedings with the appearance of new counsel and the possible resetting of the preliminary hearing.
The defendant has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm on person, causing permanent disability, mayhem, attempted robbery and attempted carjacking.
The charges stem from an incident in March when the Lake County Sherriff Deputies were dispatched to the Sentry Market in Nice for a reported gunshot victim.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they located an adult male victim who suffered from a gunshot wound to the arm.
The victim was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital.
Deputies successfully located the scene where the incident took place – 4400 block of Lakeview Drive, Nice.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation, identifying a suspect in the case tracking him in Lakeport.
Authorities served a search warrant at a residence on Red Feather Lane in Lakeport, gathering evidence related to the shooting. The suspect was located and arrested.
The defendant was booked into the Hill Road Correctional Facility where he remains in custody with bail set at $2,20,000,000.
