LAKEPORT — It was S&S Insulation Night at the races Saturday night at the Lakeport Speedway where the racing card included the S&K Automotive and Towing modifieds, the Wicked Sounds and & Wicked Automotive Legends, the Taco Bell bombers, and the West Coast mini-modifieds.
Modifieds
Richard Knight won the modified main event, beating Mike Snider, Mike Sullivan, Anthony Espberg and Brian Rodello to the checkered flag. Knight also was the fast qualifier at 12.765 seconds, with Snider (12.923) and Sullivan (12.948) close behind.
Sullivan won the trophy dash in front of Knight, Snider and Esberg. Sullivan also won the heat race.
Legends
Fast qualifier Mike Doss (13.760) went on to win the Legends main event in front of Tyler Manning, Dannie Carpenter, Dave Allen, Russ Lowe, Jason Hunt, Gary Judd and Steve Sprague.
Heat wins went to Judd and trophy dash winner Carpenter.
Bombers
Trevor Kollenborn had a big night in the bomber division, winning the main event, trophy dash and heat race. He just missed a clean sweep as Klinton Wade set the fast time of 14.318. Kollenborn was second fastest (14.611).
In the main event, it was Trevor Kollenborn, Waite, Jim Kollenborn, Thomas Esberg and Cameron Miller.
Mini-modifieds
Like Kollenborn in the bomber division, David Aceves nearly scored a clean sweep in the mini-modified division. He won the main event, trophy dash and heat race. Doug Rivera prevented the sweep by posting a fast time of 14.069.
In the feature race, it was Aceves finishing in front of Rivera.
Schedule
The North State Modified Series joins the racing card this coming Saturday at the quarter-mile paved oval. It’s the first appearance by NSMS at Lakeport since the 2020 season when no fans were able to attend in person because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Legends, bombers and mini-modifieds are also part of the race card.
Grandstands open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. Admission prices are $15 for adults, and $12 for senior citizens (age 55 and older), military personnel and children ages 4-12. Kids age 3 and younger get in free.
