LAKEPORT — The North State Modified Series stops at Lakeport Speedway on Saturday night, the the only time this season the touring group visits the quarter-mile paved oval. It’s the first appearance by NSMS at Lakeport since the 2020 season.
The last time NSMS paid a visit to Lakeport and fans were able to attend the races, it was Kelseyville’s Darrin Knight winning that 2017 main event in front of Kelseyville drivers Eric Johnson and Darin Snider.
The series appeared twice in Lakeport in 2020 but because of COVID-19 restrictions no spectators were allowed in the grandstands. The July 2020 race was won by Kyle Tellstrom of Ukiah followed by Charlie Collins of Lakeport and Mike Sullivan of Kelseyville. The winner of the September 2020 race was Collins. Second place went to Tellstrom and Scott Winters of Tracy finished third.
The North State Modified Series cars are part of a racing card that also features the West Coast Mini-Modifieds, the Legends cars and the bombers. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begns at 7 p.m.
