
Mustangs win 3-1 over Lower Lake.
The Middletown Girls Volleyball team (1-1) started out a bit rough in their first match of the season against Lower Lake according to coach Vanessa Davis. “We have pre-season games mixed in with our league schedule moving forward, so we should be busy from here on out,” the coach said. The Mustangs prevailed 3-1 to register their first North Central League win of the season.
Davis added they have a young roster this year, only two seniors, Cora Holley No. 1 OH and Bre Pyzer No. 40 Libero.
Stat leaders:
Jaylee Doris No. 4 junior setter served 10 straight points in the 4th set. She came away with 8 total aces and 16 assists.
Mia Hoogendoorn No. 3 Middle Blocker and setter led the team with 10 kills, 13 assists, 6 aces and 2 blocks.
Cora Holley No. 1 had 6 kills, 3 aces, and 8 digs. Makayla Mace No. 2 junior OH had 8 aces, 4 kills and 16 digs.
The Mustangs followed this up Thursday with a 3-0 loss to Fort Bragg, the set Scores were 25-12, 27-25, 25-15.
Only suiting up seven athletes due to illness, Middletown came up short on Thursday against Fort Bragg. Coach Davis said the match was hard fought, especially in the second set.
Stat leaders:
Bre Pyzer Senior Libero No. 40 had 33 Service receptions and 20 digs. “Bre led our Mustangs defense to a season error low Thursday night- She had a great defensive match,” said Davis.
Mia Hoogendoorn Junior Setter/MB No 3 had 8 kills, 6 assists, 8 digs and 1 ace.
Carly Johnson Sophomore Middle Blocker/Setter No. 7 had 5 kills, 10 digs, and 1 ace.
The Mustangs travel to American Canyon today to compete in the Nor Cal Invitational Tournament.

Clear Lake gets road win over Wolverines
The Clearlake Girls traveled to Willits Thursday and came away with a 3-0 win on scores of 25-9, 25-12, 25-11 to improve their record on the season to 6-1 and 1-0 in the North Central I League following tournament wins last week.
Coach Marcella Psalmonds said Amber smart played great on defense, she had 14 digs 3 aces 3 kills in the road win.
Other Stats leaders:
Camrin Pivniska ended with 7 digs 5 kills
Kaylah Billig had five kills one block
Lindee Bingham had 2 kills 2 blocks
Psalmonds said Junior Violet Stewart “actually came in and did great at serving,” she ended up with 20 pts and 4 aces
“Sophomore Atiana Patino had a good night defensively with 12 digs and she also had 3 kills,” said the coach.
Emily Gersalia pitched in with 15 assists.
