A new sports season is underway and there’s an air of excitement and anticipation filling the atmosphere. For many of us, it’s a time to come together, support our teams, and celebrate the talents and dedication of our athletes. In the realm of running, this sentiment is no different. With the ongoing cross-country season, I am excited for our returning upperclassmen and the new runners as they are about to embark on this incredible journey.
First and foremost, let us give a hearty welcome back to our dedicated Seniors: Senior Evan Macklin and Senior Alayna Boyd. Their commitment, leadership, and passion for the sport have undoubtedly left a memorable mark on our team, and their return promises to elevate the level of competition and camaraderie on and off the field. We’ve witnessed their growth and ]development over the past year, and now, as they step into their final season, we eagerly anticipate seeing their culminating achievements.
To our returning runners, Junior Alex Fordham, Junior Ashley Hobbs, and Junior Joshua Fossa, may your continued presence be a source of inspiration and motivation for the fresh faces joining our running family. Your experience and knowledge will guide our newest members through the ups and downs of training, races, and personal milestones. Your unwavering dedication has undoubtedly set the bar high, and I’m grateful for the examples you have set for the next season of runners.
And speaking of new faces, let us warmly welcome the first-time runners who have decided to embark on this incredible journey: Senior Sienna Key, Seniors Antonio and Ivan Villa-Gomez, Senior Gavin DuBois, Senior Kyrston Pence, Junior Bryan Vences, Junior Yahir Rodriquez, Junior Austin Holmes, Junior Jonathan Ison, Junior Salvador Ramirez, Freshman Aylin Aguilar, and Freshman Emily Fordham. Your decision to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the challenges of cross-country is commendable. Remember, you are not alone; you have an entire team rallying behind you, ready to support and encourage you every step of the way. Embrace this opportunity to discover your poten7al and form las7ng friendships that will go far beyond the finish line.
To all our runners, returning and new, let us remember that it’s not just about the medals, personal records, or team rankings. Running is a sport that teaches invaluable life lessons – resilience, discipline, and the power of teamwork. It’s about the journey, the friendships forged, and the personal growth that comes from pushing your limits.
As a community, let us unite in unwavering support for our cross-country team. Attend the races (next meet is an NLC I event in Lakeport @ 3:30 p.m.), cheer at the sidelines, and tell our runners we believe in their abilities. Let’s create a legacy of passion, determination, and unity to inspire future generations. Here’s to a remarkable season filled with personal triumphs, unforgettable moments, and a shared love for the sport we hold dear.
