SHASTA COUNTY>>> Bob and Nadine Strauss, promoters of the North State Modified Series and past promoters of the Lakeport Speedway, , were inductees into the Northern California Auto Racing Alumni “Hall of Fame” on Oct.14, 2023 in Anderson, CA. The Lucerne, California couple were awarded the “Lloyd Burton Founders Cup” during the 14th annual ceremony hosted by Mary Burton and the NCARA board of directors.
“Each year we have chosen a person from the racing community who participated or dedicated much time to racing in the northern part of California,” said Mary Burton. “This person is chosen by seasoned board members/racers who remember these recipients for their time spent for the betterment of racing,”Burton continued. “We call this category the “Lloyd Burton Founder’s Cup.”
“I was honored by this award,” said Nadine Strauss. “We have known Lloyd and Mary for over 40 years and have spent many racing endeavors with them.”
Bob and Nadine Strauss have been involved with auto racing for over 55 years. In addition to Bob’s racing career, Bob and Nadine became the promoters for the auto races at Lakeport Speedway in 1984 and did that job for 25 years. In 2003 they were honored as “Auto Racing Promoters of the Year” in Daytona Beach, Florida, and to date are also actively involved in the annual RPM Promoters Workshops.
Just recently Nadine was the first recipient of the prestigious Jody Deery Award, the highest award ever given to a female in the auto racing promotions industry. She received this award on Feb. 11, 2023 at Daytona Beach, Florida.
