Lake County Theatre Company presents 9 to 5, the Musical

If you loved the movie 9 to 5, then you won’t want to miss Lake County Theatre Company’s new musical based on the movie. It includes all the great songs, oodles of laughs and over-the-top performances. The song lyrics and music were written by Dolly Parton, with the screenplay by Patricia Resnick and Collin Higgins.

Violet (played by Laura Sammel), along with Doralee (played by June Clarkin), and Judy (played by Claire Jacobs) take on Consolidated Industries and their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical” boss (played by Doug Cembellin). You may know Sammel from when she filled the theater with “All That Jazz” in Chicago. Clarkin has all the attributes of Dolly Parton, the voice, the looks and the…well you will just have to come and see for yourself. Jacobs last appeared in the Spring comedy “Fishwrap.” Cembellin played Boolie in “Driving Miss Daisy” and has a string of starring roles with big-city playhouses, along with office intrigues and shenanigans the ladies succeed in stumbling to the top.

Larry Richardson directed and Zoe Richardson choreographed, while Marie Scrader as music director led the cast of 25 to new heights. The show is playing at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 12, 2023. You can purchase tickets at LCTC.US or the Soper Reese box office.

Temporary Emergency Shelter at 1111 Whalen Way, Lakeport closes Wednesday, reopens next day

On Wednesday, the Lake County Continuum of Care made the difficult decision not to open the temporary emergency shelter at 1111 Whalen Way, Lakeport.  Blue Horizons staff remained on-site the evening of November 1 to notify those who presented to the building of the closure.

Given the late decision point, Lake County Behavioral Health Services, as Lead Agency for the Continuum of Care, immediately jumped into action to find alternative arrangements for those presenting to the shelter.

In total, 27 individuals were accommodated in local lodging facilities, with food provided from the Shelter facility.  This was all accomplished within two hours (by 7 p.m.), and special considerations were even made for one individual with Access and Functional Needs.

We are pleased to announce the Temporary Emergency Shelter reopened Thursday at 4pm (normal daily operating hours are 4 p.m. to 8 a.m.).

“We are grateful we were able to find accommodations for everyone overnight last night,” notes Elise Jones, Lake County’s Behavioral Health Director.  “Accomplishing this and reopening the shelter in just over 24 hours’ time are strong testaments to the investment of many people in promoting the well-being of every Lake County resident.  Many thanks to all who quickly came together to make this possible!”
