Lake County Women’s Civic Club News
The Lake County Women’s Civic Club (LCWCC) enjoyed a delicious turkey luncheon at the Riviera Hills Restaurant in November. In addition to the great food, the ladies welcomed Ginny Craven representing Tango Mike. Tango Mike is an organization that collects donations for Lake County service members deployed overseas and mails care packages to them monthly. The club was happy to make a $2,000 donation to help support this worthwhile program. Ms. Craven mentioned that the group could especially use donations of packaged protein items, deodorant and cash to help defer the expensive shipping charges that the group incurs each month.
The speaker for the November meeting was Nancy Mitchell, a Veteran Service Representative. She shared information about veterans benefits and insurance options. It was interesting to note that Lake County has more vets per capita than any county in California. Anyone interested in more information about local veteran’s benefits can contact Ms. Mitchell at 707-263-2384.
The December meeting of the LCWCC will be Friday, December 1 at the Riviera Hills Restaurant. The December meeting will host My Divas, a musical group that will share holiday songs for the ladies. Also in December, the group will be making a donation to Wreaths Across America, a program that supplies holiday wreaths to decorate gravesites and honor those who served our country in the armed forces.
The Lake County Women’s Civic Club is a group of volunteers who raise funds for community projects in order to serve the community and make Lake County a better place for all who live here. Any Lake County ladies who would like more information about the LCWCC can contact membership chairperson, Sharon Leckbee at 707-900-1486.
