Community members are asked to submit questions for the candidates in advance and no later than Wednesday, January 10. Questions may be forwarded to MATH at mathtownhall@gmail.com.
The Candidate Forum will be moderated by Elizabeth Larson of LakeCoNews, an online-based news organization serving Lake County. The broadcast will be accessible via Zoom and available on YouTube. The Forum will be recorded by Mediacom Public Education and Government Channel: Lake County PEG TV.
Questions will be taken on the day of the Forum from the floor in writing and submitted to the moderator via the attending MATH Board members.

LAKEPORT
Public Hearing notice re. possible mitigation fee increase
The Board of Directors of the Lakeport Fire Protection District engaged Ridgeline Municipal Strategies to perform a study to determine what the district should charge for mitigation fees. The study, along with associated documents have been made available to the public for inspection between 9 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday, at 445 N. Main Street, Lakeport, CA 95453 beginning on Dec. 30, 2023.
The documents will also be published on the district’s website at www.lakeportfire.com. The Board will hold a public hearing at 5 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024 for constituents to provide input on the mitigation fee study and proposed changes. The hearing, followed by the regular monthly’ board meeting, will be held at the Lakeport Fire Protection District, 445 N. Main Street, Lakeport, CA 95453. Any person may appear and be heard during the public comment section of the public hearing.

The Rotary Club of Lakeport is pleased to unveil an exciting lineup of distinguished speakers for its January 2024 luncheons. The Rotary Club, known for its commitment to community service, invites members and the public to join these engaging sessions held at O’Meara Brothers Brewing Company in Lakeport every Wednesday at noon.
January 10, 2024: Tim Stephens, CEO, Sutter Lakeside Hospital
Kicking off the month on January 10, the Rotary Club welcomes Tim Stephens, the Chief Executive Officer of Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Mr. Stephens will share insights into the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, discussing innovations, challenges, and the hospital’s role in serving the Lakeport community.
On January 17, Mireya Turner, Director of Lake County Community Development, will take the stage to discuss the critical role of community development in shaping the future of Lakeport. Ms. Turner’s presentation will cover ongoing projects, economic strategies, and the importance of community collaboration for sustainable growth.
Wrapping up the month on January 31, Carolyn Ruttan, Co-founder of the Clear Lake Environmental Research Center, will share her expertise on environmental conservation and the center’s efforts to promote ecological awareness. Attendees will gain valuable insights into preserving the natural beauty of Clear Lake.

31st annual Professional Pianist Concert
On January 27 and 28, 2024 the 31st annual Professional Pianist Concert will hit the stage with two exciting concerts featuring 11 different pianists at the Mendocino College Center Theatre in Ukiah. Performers letting the keys fly this year are Spencer Brewer, Elena Casanova, Wendy DeWitt, Barney McClure, Frankie J, Tom Ganoung, Elizabeth MacDougall, Ed Reinhart, Ben Rueb, Charlie Seltzer and Janice Hawthorne Timm. The musical styles will range from classical to jazz, boogie-woogie to Cuban, Broadway to ragtime.
This fun and stimulating series features the finest regional pianists on stage in a living room environment. Throughout the performance they trade stories and melodies with two pianos on stage to accommodate impromptu collaborations. The event is an annual sellout because of the diversity and quality of music in a multitude of styles, and the humor that takes place throughout the evening.
Saturday, January 27 at 7 p.m. will feature Spencer Brewer, Elena Casanova, Frankie J, Elizabeth MacDougall, Barney McClure and Ed Reinhart.
Sunday, January 28 at 2 p.m. will include Spencer Brewer, Wendy DeWitt, Tom Ganoung, Ben Rueb, Charlie Seltzer and Janice Hawthorne Timm.
No two concerts are the same, so if you love piano and piano music, please consider enjoying more than one performance!
The concerts benefit the Ukiah Community Concert Association, Mendocino College Recording Arts Club and the Allegro Scholarship Program. Tickets are on sale at Mendocino Book Co. in Ukiah, Mazahar in Willits and online at www.UkiahConcerts.org. Tickets are $25 general admission and $30 “I ‘Wanna’ See the Hands” limited seating.
