LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport Public Works Department provided an updated report from 10:30 a.m. on February 5 concerning the atmospheric river storm that battered the region from Saturday afternoon through early Monday morning.

Public Works confirmed the Lake Level was 6.92 feet at 7:15 a.m. In Cobb, Black Oak Dr. – roadway was closed due to a downed tree, also according to Public Works. Gifford Springs Road: much of the roadway is single lane due to down lines and trees. Loch Lomond Rd: Single lane at MPM 5.07 due to broken AT&T pole/lines and tree. Mulberry St. at Redwood Road – Roadway closed due to downed tree into lines. Pine Summit Dr: Closed to through traffic due to tree into lines and power pole in the roadway. Use Mapes Pass as a detour, Public Works advised.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa Road- roadway closed from Big Fir to Sugar Pine Ridge Road due to trees in power lines. Red Fir Lane – roadway closed due to downed tree and power lines. Sycamore Road – roadway closed due to downed tree.

In Hidden Valley Lake, Spruce Grove Road Ext: Closed near USS Liberty Lane (Quarry Road) due to road slip out. Moving on to Kelseyville, Finley East Road: open. Regarding LAKEPORT, Scotts Valley Road: roadway closed from Hwy 20 to Hendricks Road due to flooding. In Lower Lake: Seigler Canyon Road: minor flooding across the roadway near Perini Road. Roadway is still open. In Lucerne Ogden Road – Roadway closed due to large tree and powerlines. Meanwhile, for Middletown Dry Creek Cutoff Road: Seasonal road closure at the low water crossing. And, in Nice, Lakeshore Blvd: roadway closed from Hudson St. to Hwy 20 due to downed trees and lines. In the city of Clearlake, there was no official report available for their public works department except a referral to their phone number: 707-9948201 X341.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office declared the existence of a local emergency due to the storms. In a release sent Monday, the LCSO noted that the Sheriff, as Director of Emergency Services of Lake County “does hereby find; that conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the County of Lake, caused by winter storms including excessive rainfall, high winds and snow, resulting in downed trees and power lines, flooding and other serious damage across the County to public infrastructure and residential properties; which began on the 31st day of January, 2024 and; that these conditions may extend beyond the control of the services, personnel, equipment, and facilities of Lake County.”

Furthermore, LCSO noted that an emergency proclamation shall expire seven days after issuance unless confirmed and ratified by the Lake County Board of Supervisors, adding that “said local emergency shall be deemed to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Lake County Board of Supervisors.”

According to the Lake County Office of Education, all public schools in the county would remain closed Monday with the exception of Lakeport USD schools and LCOE Creativity School.
