SANTA ROSA— The Middletown High School golf team finished its 2024 campaign in perfect style by shooting a team score of 338 to win its eighth consecutive Coastal Mountain Conference South Division golf tournament of the year.  The CMC South’s final match was contested at the Valley of the Moon Golf Course at the Oakmont complex at the eastern edge of Santa Rosa. The weather was somewhat chilly and the winds reeked havoc upon the golfers as it oftentimes changed directions.  The MHS golfers completed a perfect season for the second year in a row, standing alone at the top of the standings with a 32-0 mark.

Middletown was led by Dom Williams who carded a +9 over par 81.  Williams had the low average among CMC golfers for the season and was also the champion of the final stage CMC South 36 hole tournament.  Teammate Bodhi Moore posted an 83 and was one shot back of Williams in the tournament.  Cooper Johnson shot an 86 and Jackson Conley rebounded from his struggles at Windsor last week to shoot an 88.  Middletown’s golf team now heads to next Monday’s North Coast Section playoffs at the Peacock Gap Golf Course in San Rafael.

St. Helena High School shot a team score of 358 to finish in second place.  The St. Helena golf team was led by Ethan Peterson and Micha Meraz Ha, both of whom shot 83s.  Technology was next with a team score of 363 with Dilyan Lopez leading the way with an 84.  Sebastian Maurice shot an 88 while Sam O’Halloran posted a 92.  Sonoma Academy put up a score of 399 and was led by Eli Goldberg who shot an 88.  Kelseyville finished in fifth place with a 429.  Nate Sherman led the way for the golfing Knights with a 97.  Adam Astrup shot a 101, Caleb Lopez turned in a 103, and Andrew Nave posted a 127.  St. Helena finished the year at 20-12, Technology came in third with an 18-12 mark, Sonoma Academy was next at 9-23, and Kelseyville was 1-31.

The season ending awards ceremony was held following play at the Valley of the Moon with all five teams and a large number of family and friends in attendance.  Ethan Peterson of St. Helena was the recipient of the Distinguished Golfer Award as voted on by the coaches. It recognizes golfing ability, grade point average, and leadership skills among CMC golfers.  Dom Williams received the award in 2023.  The all-conference team included the Middletown trio of Dom Williams, Bodhi Moore, and Cooper Johnson alongside Micha Meraz Ha and Ethan Peterson of St. Helena and Sebastian Maurice of Tech High.  The second team included Adam Astrup of Kelseyville, Jackson Conley and Blake Costlow of Middletown, Eli Goldberg of Sonoma Academy,  and Sam O’Halloran and Dilyan Lopez of Technology.

The five individuals advancing to the North Coast Section playoffs on Monday based on their two rounds of play at Windsor and the Valley of the Moon included Ethan Peterson, Micha Meraz Ha, Sebastian Maurice, Sam O’Halloran, and Eli Goldberg.
