SAN RAFAEL— The Middletown High School golf team concluded its 2024 campaign by shooting a team score of 347 to finish in 11th place in the 12 team field in the North Coast Section Division II playoffs at the Peacock Gap Golf Course in San Rafael on Monday.
Middletown was led by junior Bodhi Moore who carded a +5 over par 76 and senior Dom Williams who posted a 79. Senior Cooper Johnson added an 86 while Jackson Conley struggled with his driver and shot a 106. Middletown’s chances of performing better in the North Coast Section playoffs took a hit several weeks ago when all-conference sophomore golfer Blake Costlow underwent season ending knee surgery. Nonetheless it was a successful season for the senior dominated Middletown squad. The Mustang golfers finished with a 32-0 record in the Coastal Mountain Conference’s South Division. It marked the second year in a row that MHS won league with a perfect record.
In a nail biter of a finish, Marin Catholic had to rely upon the tie-breaker format to win the team title at Peacock Gap. They shot a team score of 301 (a 75.25 average) and ended up tied atop the leader board with league rivals Marin Academy. The first tie-breaker compares the fifth best score and that is how Marin Catholic got to the top spot. Their number five golfer carded an 87 while the Marin Academy number five score was a 94. Miramonte High School finished in third place with a team score of 305. Cardinal Newman came in fourth place with a 307 while Athenian and Berean Christian tied for fifth place with a team score of 311. Willits High School, the champions of the CMC North, finished in 12th place with a 425 team total.
