LAKEPORT— When an Arcata man charged with felony burglary and vandalism failed to appear for a master calendar call hearing last month, a bench warrant for a failure to appear was issued with bail set in the amount of $150,000.

During a recent motion to recall warrant hearing the defendant’s bench warrant for failing to appear was ordered recalled.

The defendant Tyrone Brennen, 38, submitted a letter of re-assumption and it was ordered that the bail forfeiture be set aside and the bond was reinstated.

Brennen is ordered to be personally present for the preliminary hearing scheduled for July.

Earlier this month a motion to recall the warrant was filed by the defendant.

In April the defendant appeared at the Lake County Superior Court for a preliminary hearing.

Defense counsel, Timothy C. Craig, stipulated to continue this matter due to missing discovery.

In March the defendant was present and not in custody, for an appearance of counsel, plea entry and bail review hearing. The defendant entered a not guilty plea to all counts and denied the special allegations.

The defendant has been charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of vandalism.

Earlier this year a Lake County deputy acquired a felony arrest warrant in connection to a burglary in Lake County.

The charges stem from an incident earlier this year when Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies located a vehicle connected to a burglary in Lake County. The defendant’s vehicle was spotted during the early morning hours at the parking lot of Bruno’s Shop Smart grocery store.

Brennen was arrested and transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility.

A search warrant of the defendant’s vehicle was later granted and conducted. Upon search of the vehicle deputies found possible burglary tools and clothing similar to what the defendant was wearing during the commission of some of the burglaries.

According to Sheriff’s officials, the defendant stole approximately $60,000 from November through January from multiple businesses, causing a multitude of damages to the buildings during the process.

According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, the defendant is a suspect to two burglaries in Mendocino County – one at a Chevron station in Gualala and the other at Hopland Farms Gas and Mart.

The defendant has reportedly been responsible for numerous burglaries within the state over the past several years.

The defendant has since bailed out.
