LAKEPORT— The Lake County Chamber of Commerce announced the resignation of Laura McAndrews Sammel as Chief Executive Officer, effective Aug. 1, 2024. Sammel will be leaving her position to assume the role of Operations Director at the Clear Lake Environmental Research Center.

Since joining the Lake County Chamber of Commerce in 2021, Sammel has been instrumental in driving economic growth, fostering community engagement, and advocating for local businesses. Her leadership has been pivotal in navigating the challenges of the pandemic, launching several successful initiatives, and strengthening partnerships within the community.

“Laura has been a remarkable leader and a steadfast advocate for the business community in Lake County,” said Matthew Metcalf, President of the Board of Directors. “Her dedication and vision have greatly contributed to the Chamber’s success and the economic vitality of our region. While we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her as she embarks on this new opportunity.”

In her new role as Operations Director at the Clear Lake Environmental Research Center (CLERC), Sammel will provide oversight and management of CLERC’s operations, lead human resources management, and partner closely with the organization’s senior leadership team to chart CLERC’s growth and strategic response to increasing demand for the organization’s services. CLERC is known for its cutting-edge research and commitment to sustainability and community, making Sammel’s business expertise and leadership a perfect fit for their mission as the organization continues to grow.

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has formed a Search Committee and will begin the search for a new CEO immediately. The Board of Directors will ensure a smooth transition and continued support for the Chamber’s initiatives and programs.
