The seventh edition of the Gen Con gaming convention took place on August 23 to 25, 1974 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with a fee of $3.50 for all three days. Things really have changed since those early days. Last year due to a co-worker retiring unexpectedly, I was unable to attend even though I had secured passes and was enthusiastically looking forward to the trip. This year, I told myself I wasn't going to miss it.
