LAKEPORT >> A Clearlake man who was recently arrested for possessing fentanyl while driving a stolen vehicle, was present and not in custody for a settlement hearing.

During the hearing the defendant, Anthony Jamal Hollomon, entered a no contest plea to possessing, for the purpose of sale, a controlled substance.

A no contest plea is a legal plea where a defendant accepts a conviction without admitting guilt. On the motion of the People, the Court ordered the balance of the complaint’s charges dismissed in the interest of justice.

The Court advised the defendant that he is prohibited from owning, purchasing, receiving, possessing or having under his custody or control any body armor, firearms, ammunition and ammunition feeding devices, including magazines.

This matter has been referred to Lake County Probation Department in order for them to conduct an investigation and for the preparation of a pre-sentencing report.

The jury trial has been vacated, and the sentencing hearing has been scheduled for the end of this month.

Last month the defendant entered a not guilty plea to all counts of the information, denying the special allegations. During the hearing the defendant rejected an offer that was made by the People and at that time the jury trial was set for this month.

In October of last year, the Court found no good cause for the defendant’s non-appearance at his arraignment hearing.

At that time the Court ordered the issuance of a bench warrant for failing to appear with bail set in the amount of $20,000.

The defendant’s bail was then forfeited.

During the arraignment hearing the matter was recalled for later that morning as the defendant arrived late.

The Court vacated the previous order to issue a bench warrant. It was ordered that the bail forfeiture be set aside, and the bond was reinstated.

The Court appointed the Lake County Public Defender as counsel for the defendant.

During the hearing the defendant entered a not guilty plea to all charges. The defendant has been charged with possession of sale of a controlled substance, transportation/sale of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property.

The charges stem from an incident in August of 2024 when a Clearlake Police Sergeant spotted a vehicle speeding on Hwy 53. According to Clearlake Police, the Sergeant’s radar gun was deployed; determining the vehicle was traveling 81 mph in a 55-mph zone.

Upon conducting a traffic stop of the vehicle, the sergeant discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Winters, California. A search of the vehicle ensued as approximately 65 grams of suspected fentanyl was located with packaging material for sales.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Clearlake resident, Anthony Hollomon.

He was arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail. The defendant had since bailed out.
