
MIDDLETOWN>> In a hard-fought game that could have gone either way in the end, the Middletown Boys basketball team got at least two thunderous dunks by Jon Hawkins en route to the 48-47 victory over the Arroyo Dons. The win ensured a home matchup Saturday against visiting Mission San Jose.
Middletown is coming into the match-up against the visiting Warriors hot, having won their last seven games.
The Mustangs are on a roll after the high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday where they slipped by Arroyo 48-47.
Meanwhile, you can’t lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mission San Jose’s strategy against St. Helena on Wednesday. Mission San Jose strolled past St. Helena with points to spare, taking the game 60-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Middletown’s victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points over those games. As for Mission San Jose, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.
