KELSEYVILLE>>> The Kelseyville Knight’s baseball team’s 7-3 victory was Kelseyville’s 36th straight League win. Kelseyville’s next home game is April 22 against Middletown.
Kelseyville entered Friday’s game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs), according to Maxpreps.
Brock Barrick had success both hitting and on the mound. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits and hasn’t given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also an offensive weapon for the Knights, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Kelseyville won the last time they played the Mustangs on April 7. The Knights were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
According to a MaxPreps report on the game, Gene Holdenried spent all six innings played on the mound that day, and it’s clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six strikeouts. He has been consistent this season. Leading up to the April 7 game against the Mustangs, the pitcher had not given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Kelseyville pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clear Lake, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4 on the season.
