On Monday, June 30, we were informed by the U.S. Department of Education of an abrupt and unprecedented decision to withhold $6.9 billion in critical education funding that had already been authorized for the current fiscal year. This includes over $800 million designated for California schools, funds that communities like ours in Lake County were depending on.
