Remember Grimace, Mayor McCheese, the Fry Friends and all the other characters from McDonaldland?
McDonald’s is hoping you do. It’s bringing back that imaginary world from the 1970s in the form of a McDonaldland meal that will go on sale on Tuesday, Aug. 12, according to a news release.
It will feature adult portions, so it’s not a Happy Meal. But it will include collectibles that would appeal to kids or perhaps grown-up baby boomers and members of Gen X. Each meal will come with one of six tins that contain postcards and stickers and feature McDonaldland characters.
The meal will be either a Quarter Pound or 10-Piece Chicken McNuggets with fries and a limited-time Mt. McDonaldland Shake, which is a “secret concoction” with “vibrant blue lava” topped with a pink cloud.
Sold separately, there will be tie-in merchandise in a collaboration with Pacsun.
In the past, so-called adult Happy Meals have sold briskly or sold out rapidly. Collectibles from last year’s Minecraft meal and 2022’s Cactus Plant Flea Market Box are going for about $7-$25 on eBay.
