The Old Farmer’s Almanac warns this fall may not be as crisp and cool as usual

If you’ve had enough of the summer heat and are hoping for a crisp fall breeze to arrive soon, you may be disappointed. That’s because the iconic Old Farmer’s Almanac just dropped its fall 2025 forecast, and it sounds like we may have a long wait for chillier weather. The Almanac is forecasting that fall in most of the U.S. will be warmer and drier than usual. ”Your trek to the pumpkin patch may be a bit steamy this year,” they said.

If you live in the Atlantic Corridor, the Southeast, Florida, the Deep South, Texas-Oklahoma, High Plains, Pacific Northwest, Pacific Southwest, Heartland, Intermountain and Alaska, expect things to feel extra warm with above-average temperatures hanging on longer than usual. September might feel more like summer, and those cooler evenings could be a ways off.

A handful of (lucky) regions, including the Appalachians, the Northeast, Lower Lakes, Ohio Valley and Upper Midwest, could see some relief in the form of cooler temps. Rainfall is projected to be below-average in most of the U.S.

So, what does this all mean? Don’t shut down the air conditioning and bust out those sweaters just yet. Keep your cooling sheets on the bed, and maybe grab another set just in case.
