
FORT BRAGG >> Tianna Jardstrom is as versatile as she is good. The Clear Lake High School junior won two events and finished second in two others on Wednesday as the Cardinals took part in a Coastal Mountain Conference track and field meet in Fort Bragg.
Willits, Technology and Mendocino high schools also were present.
Jardstrom’s first-place finishes came in the 800 meters (2 minutes, 43 seconds) and 1,600 (6:06), but apart from her success in mid-distance events, she also took second in the 200 (28.8 seconds) and the long jump (12 feet, 8 inches). It was her first try at the long jump, according to Clear Lake coach Dick Bode.
Jardstrom’s teammate, Paige Woodruff, won the pole vault by clearing 9 feet even.
Varsity boys
Clear Lake’s Jacob Lopez and Quintin Scott scored third-place finishes in varsity boys action, Lopez in the 800 (2:58) and Scott in the discus (91-5).
JV boys
Felipe Sturr won the junior varsity shotput (38-6 ½) and placed third in the discus (81-2) for Clear Lake.
Also placing in multiple events were Sayer Ford, second in the 400 (1:06.9) and third in the 300 hurdles (53.5); Ethan Scuderi-Schulman, fourth in the 300 hurdles (55.1), fourth in the pole vault (7-6) and fifth in the high jump (4-6); Donavin Valadez, third in the 100 (12.67) and third in the high jump (4-8); and Brendan Allen, second in the high jump (5-0) and fourth in the 100 (12.85).
M’town at K’ville
Middletown and Kelseyville garnered most of the varsity first-place finishes during a five-team meet CMC in Kelseyville.
In the varsity boys division, Jack Farris of Kelseyville won the 100 (11.7) and 200 (35.2). Single-event winners were Beau Marek of Kelseyville in the 400 (57.9), Evan Dodd of Middletown in the 110 hurdles (19.1) and Isaac Rascon of Middletown in the 3,200 (time not available), Thomas Green of Kelseyville in the long jump (17-10), Damian Ledesma of Kelseyville in the triple jump (36-10 ½), Jeff Morris of Middletown in the high jump (5-8), and Mark Breiner of Middletown in the discus (107-3).
Kelseyville also won the 4×100 relay (51.4) while Middletown won the 4×400 relay (4:07.9).
Girls
Yareli Lozano of Kelseyville came away with firsts in both the 1,600 (6:06.7) and 3,200 (13:53) while Middletown’s Hanna Morris won the shotput (29-10 ½) and discus (94-1).
Single-event winners from Middletown were Kelsey Lemoine in the 100 (13.6), Alyssa Terry in the 200 (31.6), Grace Southern in the 400 (1:11.9), Colleen Schimansky in the 100 hurdles (18.9), and Amy Herrmann in the high jump (4-10). Kelseyville’s Bri Henry won the 300 hurdles (1:00.9).
Middletown won both relays – the 4×100 (58.70) and 4×400 (5:09).
