Daniel Stephen Etzel OBITUARY
Daniel Stephen Etzel 1942-2025 Daniel Stephen Etzel, passed away on August 13, 2025 at his home in Mountain House, California, at the age of 83. Dan didn’t let the effects of polio, contracted at an early age, stop him from becoming a licensed contractor, a manager at Kaiser Permanente and a real estate broker who helped start Remax Lake County Realty in Lakeport. Dan loved Lake County and came up from his Bay Area home as much as possible to camp at Clear Lake State Park, put his boat on Clearlake’s water and help with the walnut harvest on his grandparents, the late Anton and Marie Wagner, ranch property on Morgan Valley Road in Lower Lake. Dan had a smile that wouldn’t quit, an upbeat positive attitude that brought people together and an unspoken resolve that nothing could, or would, hinder his ambitions. He never once complained about personal hardships or felt sorry for himself. Dan inspired us all. He will be missed like you can’t imagine. Dan leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Julie, his sons John Hayden and Stephen Etzel, daughters Lynnette Clarey and Stephanie Gale and brothers George (Yoko) Etzel and Norman (Carol) Etzel and sister Antoinette (Paul) Hardstone along with numerous grandchildren. Close cousins include Dale (Bill) Faust, Charleen (Dick) McLean, Chuck (Pam) Pistoia and Michael (Laura) Santarelli. After remembrances, Dan will be buried in the Lower Lake Cemetery on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 at 11 am next to his predeceased mother, Anna Wagner and father, George Etzel Sr.
