Former Upper Lake resident Kenton V. Miller passed away on Friday April 25, 2025 at the age of 69 in Henderson, Nevada, The middle child of Albert V. and Ruth Blair Miller was born in Ukiah, CA on May 31, 1955. Kent’s paternal grandparents settled in Upper Lake in 1931. His widowed grandmother Cora Wilkins Miller raised her two sons in Upper Lake, owned and operated the Home Coffee Shop for several years, and lived in her 9425 Main Street home for over 40 years. When Kent’s Father was assigned to the California Highway Patrol office in Lakeport in 1963 the family moved to Upper Lake building their home on Middle Creek. Kent attended Upper Lake Grammar School and Upper Lake High School. After graduating in June of 1974 he moved to Southern California where due to a career promotion his family had recently relocated. Kent enjoyed several occupations during his lifetime. He enjoyed construction, building and remodeling homes and offices including the nine cabins of the old Camp Joy Resort on Hwy 20 on Blue Lake during the mid 1990s. He sold irrigation supplies for a company in Palm Springs, CA and owned and operated his own landscaping business in the area. For several years he worked for the Dole company in Marina, CA to maintain refrigeration and cooling in their plants in Salinas and Huron, CA and Yuma, Arizona. Finally he was lead machine operator in producing credit card products for HSBC located in Salinas, CA. He moved to Henderson, NV in the fall of 2016. Kent’s passing is deeply sorrowful for his parents who celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary at home in Henderson this month. He is also survived by brother Keith E (Missy) Miller of Denver; sister Kimberlee Schloss and niece Riley of Marina CA; niece Brianne (Homero) Hidalgo, Great neice and Nephew, Vivian and Emerson Hidalgo of Hendeson, NV. Interment will be in the Miller Family Plot in Upper Lake Cemetery.
