Mary Davis passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, in Elk Grove, California, with her family by her side. Mary was born on April 17, 1940, in Los Angeles, California and adopted into a loving home by Bernice and Donovan Nevin. She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach in 1958. She attended California State University, Long Beach, joined the Alpha Phi sorority and proudly served as their President from 1960-61, before marrying James Bracht and starting their family. Mary started her career working for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Los Angeles in 1961. She later worked as an executive secretary for Dean Witter & Co. and Matson Navigation. While working as an Assistant Manager of Vessel Operations at Sea Land in Long Beach, she met and married Captain James Davis and relocated to Buckingham in Kelseyville, California in 1978. Over the years, she enjoyed working in a variety of fields in the Kelseyville and Lakeport area. Mary was passionate about giving back to her Lake County community and served as a dedicated member of Kelseyville Lioness Club for over 20 years. She also served as Club President in 1991-92 and 2001-02. Mary embraced the opportunity to support local community groups through fund- raising, while enjoying time with her friends and fellow club members. Mary was an avid golfer enjoying membership with Hidden Valley Lake 18-hole Women’s Golf Club, 40-9er’s Ladies Club and Buckingham 18-hole Women’s Golf Club. Her love of the game took her to places such as, Maui, Arizona, Palm Springs, Costa Rica and Pebble Beach. Besides the cherished friendships she developed over the years playing golf, a definite highlight was her hole in one at Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course on Hole #4. Other golf highlights were winning the Women’s Buckingham Cup, Grandmother’s Tournament, Lake County Tournament of Champions, and Buckingham Women’s Club Champion. Mary is lovingly remembered by her son, Jim (Wendy); daughter, Carri (Mark); grandchildren, Brian, Elaina, Eric, Alexandria, Jake, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Viktor, Eloise, Kennedy and Hudson; her sister, Patti (Jim); her wonderful nieces and nephews and numerous treasured friends. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice; father, Donovan; brothers, Robert and Thomas; and her husband, James Davis. Mary’s infectious laugh and her love and dedication to her family, friends, and community have left an indelible mark on all who knew her, and words cannot capture how deeply she will be missed. In honor of her life and memory, please consider a donation to a charity close to your heart, or to the Alzheimer’s Association. A private family memorial will take place in Long Beach.
