Rebecca Olive Dempsey (Dunham) August 9, 1954 May 5, 2025 Rebecca Olive Dempsey, affectionately known to many as “Nana,” passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Santa Rosa, California, at the age of 70. A longtime resident of Nice, California, Rebecca was a vibrant, strong, and fiercely loyal woman who left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her. Born on August 9, 1954, in Sacramento, California, to Mary Ann and Herald Dunham, Rebecca grew up in the beautiful community of North Lake Tahoe. It was there she developed her sharp wit, big heart, and unshakable strengthtraits that would define her throughout her life. She later married the love of her life, Jack Dempsey, and together they made their home in Nice, California. For many years, the two ran a beloved restaurant that became more than a businessit was a gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and community. After retiring, Rebecca enjoyed the simple joys of life: bingo nights with her daughter in Arizona, good books, puzzles, lunch dates with friends and spending precious time with her family. Rebecca was the proud mother of three children: Jennifer Sevedge, Jack Dempsey (who passed in 2020), and Scott Dempsey. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Travis Sevedge, and daughter-in-law, Billie Jo. Her love extended to her cherished grandchildrenAshley, Chloe, Dylon, Jack, and Jasper and her great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Averie, and Millie. She is also survived by her three brothers: Ron Dunham, Randy Dunham, and Rocky Dunham. Known for her sass and sarcasm, Rebecca’s sharp wit and enormous heart made her unforgettable. She was the kind of person who showed up when you needed her, no matter what. Her strength, humor, and kindness touched the lives of everyone around her, and her love for her family was unwavering. Rebecca will be deeply missed beyond words by all who had the privilege to know and love her. In keeping with her wishes, no formal services will be held. The family asks that you honor Rebecca’s memory in your own waywhether it’s through a kind gesture, sharing a favorite story, working on a puzzle, or enjoying a quiet moment with a good book, just as she would have loved.
